INTRODUCTION

Roberta Lea is an award-winning singer/songwriter, published author, playwright and motivational speaker from Norfolk, VA. As a former educator turned full-time music artist, Lea is excited to exploit that intersection as she launches her “Creative Lea Speaking” venture. After earning her Masters in Education and teaching Spanish at Norfolk Public Schools for approximately 7 years, Lea decided, like many professionals, to make a pivot to a new career: Country music. Lea is a member of The Black Opry, The Recording Academy and one of CMT’s Next Women of Country Class of 2023. Although her new career path has been punctuated with local, national and international recognition, the award-winning songwriter still has a big heart for the classroom.

“Education places a big emphasis on core subjects like Math, Science, English and History. Art is the discipline that serves as a conduit in which students can put those important concepts into action” Lea says.

Lea offers a variety of educational programming and workshops that are known for high-energy engagement. Her experience as a teacher gives her the advantage of flexibility, relatability and student/crowd management. Described as “a compelling artist” by American Songwriter Magazine and “artist to watch” by The Nashville Scene, Lea has the best of both worlds as far as quality, experience and expertise. As a musician, her songs quickly crown her as a new favorite artist for many, but she’s never lost her crown as a favorite teacher. And she never will.
